TCC Cares: Hurricane Relief Opportunities

Dear TCC Community,

So much has happened this year that has affected so many, including some of our own TCC students and their families in various places across the state of Florida, Texas, St. Maarten, and most recently in Puerto Rico. We have an opportunity to not just lend our hearts but lend our hands to help those impacted by the devastating storms. Many of you on campus have inquired as to how you can help.  Please see below 3 different ways you can support relief efforts:

Option 1:  Donate money to the American Red Cross using the TCC micro-site. You can choose to support all Disaster Relief or designate specifically to Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, or Hurricane Maria.

Option 2:  Donate items to be airlifted to Puerto Rico. Please bring your donations to any academic division office by October 11th to start loading the plane. Here is a list of items needed. We have the opportunity to load as many things as people donate from the list.  http://prfaa.pr.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Presentation-United-for-Puerto-Rico.pdf . (Also, donations will be shipped immediately from Tallahassee in conjunction with other local efforts: items needed include D batteries, AA batteries, baby wipes, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer, diapers, baby formula, pain relief medication for adults and children, canned milk, mosquito repellent, stomach relief and diarrhea medication, first-aid kits, snacks, toiletries and portable cell phone chargers. Needs also include blankets, pillows, bottled water.)

Option 3:  Donate items to be sent to St. Maarten as a part of the City of Tallahassee’s efforts to support our sister city of St. Maarten.  Items needed are on the attached emergency supply list and can be brought to the collection boxes located in the SLICE Office (Student Union) or at the Administration Building. Deadline:  October 10th

Finally, if you, or someone you know, needs additional basic needs or counseling support, please seek help from the Student Services area to connect with the many available resources here on our campus to help during a time of crisis.

On behalf of Academic and Student Affairs, we thank you for your care and compassion for all those affected by these recent storms, and ask you to give generously to help those in need.
