Description of the event — Until Help Arrives:

Bystanders can and do save lives when they step forward to help.
The overall goal of becoming an active bystander is to strengthen the role and ability of persons to save lives by taking a few, specific helping actions when at the scene of an unexpected emergency.
Learn how to:
  • Respond to a manmade or natural disaster, or any other life-threatening emergency.
  • Provide basic initial care and other assistance to supervisors prior to the arrival of uniformed emergency responders. This includes learning how to help someone who is:
    • Bleeding;
    • has a blocked airway;
    • not breathing;
    • has a burn;
    • has hyperthermia/heat illness;
    • is drowning.
  • Offer support and comfort to individuals harmed by the emergency.
  • Convey information and collaborate with emergency responders.
  • Identify additional training, tools and other resources to enhance their response skills.

Description of the event — CRASE:

The CRASE message is designed to educate, empower, and provide attendees with an action plan for surviving an active shooter event. In just two hours, this FREE training will teach you how to be prepared in an active shooter event, as well as in everyday life. You will also learn how to recognize dangerous situations and respond with potentially life-saving techniques.

Through situational awareness and mental scripting, attendees will leave with a sense of preparedness, not fear. The goal is to provide a decisive action plan that will limit the number of potential victims accessible to the shooter and assist police response. Officers will be available to address specific questions and concerns after each training.
