Aspen 2023 Announcement

Today, the Aspen Institute announced the top 10 finalists for the 2023 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence. Though TCC was chosen as a top 25 semifinalist last month – a new part of the process this year – we were not chosen as a finalist for the prize. I am sending this to you because I also wanted to share that the Aspen leaders took the time to express how impressed they were with how we have been able…

Recognition

What a great time for Tallahassee Community College! This month, we presented to our District Board of Trustees a Strategic Plan Year Three update. We have a lot to celebrate, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t receive an email, a phone call or text, or am pulled aside by a member of the community so that they can express their support and pride in our College. Just in the past few months: TCC was once…

In Honor of Dr. James H. Hinson, Jr.

The entire Tallahassee Community College family was saddened this past month to hear of the passing of Dr. Hinson, our third president, who served this college with distinction from 1983 to 1995. Dr. Hinson is remembered as a loving husband, father, great-grandfather, and friend; an accomplished professional educator; and a great leader who served his country and his community with integrity. Update Regarding Campus Events

Update Regarding Campus Events

Dear Faculty and Staff, Like many others across the nation, our community is currently experiencing a significant spike in reported COVID-19 cases due to the highly contagious Delta variant. Based on information we’ve received from our local hospitals and healthcare experts, this is largely affecting the unvaccinated, and as of August 3, 2021, only 44% of Leon County residents were fully vaccinated. The good news is it is fairly well-established that these spikes in positivity rates are relatively short-lived, often…
